Optical Smoke Detector The XPlorer
optical smoke detector has an infra red LED within the
optical chamber which is arranged at an obtuse angle to
a photo-diode. The LED emits a burst of collimated light
every second. In clean air, the photo-diode receives no
light directly from the LED. When smoke enters the
chamber, it scatters light from the LED onto the
photo-diode in an amount related to the smoke
characteristics and density. A signal is generated and
transmitted digitally to the control
panel.

Heat Detectors The XPlorer heat
detectors monitor temperature by using a single
thermistor network which provides a voltage output
proportional to the external air
temperature.
Standard heat version has an alarm
threshold of 55°C (55 analogue value.)
The high
temperature version has similar characteristics to the
above device except that the alarm threshold is
90°C. This detector is
useful in applications where a high ambient temperature
is likely.

Manual Call Point When operated, the
manual call point interrupts the polling cycle and can
report its address in under 0.2
seconds. |
 |
Bases Two types of base are available
for use with XPlorer detectors: a mounting base and an
LED driver base. The bases have a "one way only" fit and
detectors can be locked into the base by a locking screw
with the aid of a small cross-point
screwdriver.

Isolator The XPlorer
isolator senses and isolates short circuit faults on
XPlorer loops. It is loop powered and polarity
sensitive.
Power and signals to the affected section are
restored automatically when the fault is
cleared.

 |
Output Unit The XPlorer Output Unit is
loop powered and provides a voltage-free, single pole,
change-over relay output. The change-over contact is
operated by an output bit. |
 |
Switch Monitor The
XPlorer Switch Monitor is designed to monitor the state
of one or more single-pole, volt-free contacts connected
on a single pair of cables. Reports open and
short-circuit faults on the circuit. The device produces
the output states normal, fault, pre-alarm, and
alarm.

Base Sounder The XPlorer
Base Sounder is a local area sounder designed for indoor
use. It is loop powered and has a guaranteed sound
output of 85dB(A) at 1 metre with a current consumption
of 3mA at 85dB(A). It has an uninterrupted alternating
tone and the adjustable volume control means the sounder
output can be adjusted steplessly from 70dB(A) to
85dB(A).
